The Cubs-Sox series enters a new phase this week. As any of you who have read my missives here over the past three years know, I’ve never really bought into a “rivalry” between the two teams for fanbases. They’re in different leagues, and to me the Sox have almost always been just a team that plays on the other side of town. Sure, the behavior of both fanbases toward each other can lead one to get a little tense or annoyed, but overall it’s not something I get in a twist about. I have too much bile for St. Louis to really have much for any other team.
And now neither set of fans really have much to lord over each other. The Cubs have won, it wasn’t all that long ago that the Sox did, and both have become something of a model for other teams lately on how to run an organization.
