I don’t want to be the guy who is constantly soaking in the mythical or intangible or magical. That there’s something magical going on with this team, a higher force that is pulling the strings when they need them most. There’s a simple explanation for the past few games. The Cubs have a really deep lineup and can always score, and whoever they pull off the bench has at the very least achieved success at this level for a sustained period of time.
But man… there’s something here, isn’t there? Because things that used to happen to us are happening to them. And when they are happening to the Cubs, they simply have an answer for it. A pitcher gets hurt and has to leave early last weekend. No worries, the next guy is going to hit a homer and shut them down. Blow a three run lead to a much more accomplished playoff outfit? Yeah no problem, the Cubs will tie it the next inning. Look down and out for eight innings? Oh, they’ve got something up the sleeve.
