Halfway through the season, and the Cubs sit one under .500. It’s certainly now where we thought we’d be. I doubt anyone else did. And every time we think the Cubs are coming up for air for good, they fall back under the surface. Bobbing up and down. It’s been a trip.
Still, there’s been this recent train of thought that irks me. It states that with the Cubs being middling this season, that the front office wouldn’t be tempted to “go for it,” the way they did last year with Aroldis Chapman. That they wouldn’t necessarily “pass” on this season in their window, just not bet heavy.
I kind of hate this.
